The latest format of GTO that have come out (aired in Japan from 30 June 1999 - 24 September 2000) only after the manga was successfully dramatized (in 1998), thus the storyline is much more similiar to the manga version compared to the drama version. FYI, there are 43 30-minutes episodes of them all, and they have been released on DVD format in both the North America (visit Tokyopop website to find out more) and Japan.
