Great Teacher Onizuka volume 5
Lesson #35 -The making of a star.

At the school (Hiroshi) Uchiyamada is panicking after a teacher told him that the 4th class was empty. He demanded the reasons, and the teacher answered that they all went to a field trip. Uchiyamada then complained that he didn't know anything about it, as (Azusa) Fuyutsuki and (Naoko) Moritaka looked at them. Uchiyamada then started to become angry with (Eikichi) Onizuka for changing the school schedule, and acting like he was the king. He then asked where the class went. The teacher then replied that the class went to a beauty/talent contest, shocking him. He started to throw tantrums, until he started to bleed again, shocking the other teachers.

At the contest, a participant was singing, while (Kunio) Murai asked Onizuka if things would be OK. Onizuka remarked that the participant was beautiful, ignoring Murai' question. Murai asked again if (Tomoko) Nomura could really become a star. He then added that Onizuka don't really understand her because he was new, saying that she was really stupid and clumsy, and told him to look at her sorry face. Onizuka replied that they just have to wait and see, as a miracle will unfold before their eyes, if his eyes don't deceive him. Nomura then started to sing, very badly, as the nervous Fujiyoushi and Murai can only looked at her helplessly, as Murai assumed that Onizuka had make a big mistake. (Miyabi) Aizawa just stared at Nomura, wondering what Onizuka wanted to do.

The singing contest was now finished, and the last round, acting, will commence after a break. All the participants were given a script that they have to use for the round. Nomura is looking at her scripts, wondering at lots of kanji that she doesn't understand. Suddenly, Onizuka called her, and he asked her how she is doing. Nomura replied that she is nervous as she never acted before, and maybe it was better if she just returned home. Onizuka countered, saying that she must have more confidence, and do what she always do, and then gave her a package. Nomura is puzzled, as the smiling Onizuka asked her to show her real face.

At the next scene, Aizawa is acting along with a mannequin. One of the organizers then complained about the lame script Aizawa used. After she finished, the commentator asked the judges how good she is, and the judges replied that she's OK. Now come Nomura' turn, and she stammered again when she introduced herself, as the commentators asked her what stupidity she will show now. Aizawa thinks that Nomura was just a waste of time, and that she should only return home. The commentator asked Nomura to start, but Nomura instead squat and took something from the package Onizuka had given her earlier, and it turned out to be the dolls she used at the playground.

Nomura then started her acting...

A long time ago, there was a family who lived happily with their son. From early on, the ties between them were strong, and they always spend time together, like going to a picnic or having a BBQ, a real happy family. (The participants are shocked at how well her acting is). But after 10 years, when the son Kenji was studying at high school, a tragedy befallen the family.

(Nomura is smiling, and one of the organizers tries to tell her that she has to use the scripts, but he was ignored)

A motorcycle with a punk on it is coming home.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): The handsome Kenji had returned.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): I want some spending money.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): Ah.. I don't want, no Kenji.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): Ah you old hag.

(Murai was stunned, while Onizuka just looked on)

After the father died in an accident, the mother has to go do odd jobs, leaving Kenji all alone. Thus he becomes a bad boy who always caused trouble at his school.

Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): Kenji, the school had called again, telling me that you hit someone again at school.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): Shut up. I don't want to get beaten, so I have to do it. He deserved it anyway.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): (crying)
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): Why are you crying like someone had died? Do you think your crying will change me?

(The audience started to talk with each other)

Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): It's your fault, for leaving me each time.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): If you don't like me, we can sever our relationship right now.

(Nomura’ tears started to come out)

Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): It's not like that
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): I was sad, when looking at you.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): The good little son, suddenly become a bad boy.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): This must be my fault.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): It must be because of me going out to work from early of the morning, to midnight.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): .... And you become lonely
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): What's the point of you talking about that now?
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): It just likes me to be bad, because I am just a trash.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): No, you are not like that...
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): Just shut up old hag. Give me the money.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): Kenji...

(The whole audience is silent).

(Suddenly Uchiyamada emerges at the stage, brushing aside the organizer. Murai was shocked. He saw Aizawa, and began lashing at her, for skipping school to enter the contest. He then tried to drag Aizawa, saying that students nowadays can't determine what right and what's wrong anymore. Aizawa protested, as Nomura just looked on them. Then...)

Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): Teacher, don't do that. Don't ever tell me that my Kenji is a trash.

(Uchiyamada and Aizawa are shocked, as Nomura stared at them with an angry look. Uchiyamada asked her on what's have happened, and who is Kenji she is talking about).

Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): Kenji is my son. (Uchiyamada is shocked when he heard her).
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): He is my beloved son, with my husband, so never scolded him saying that he is a trash. (Uchiyamada is puzzled now).
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): How dare you called me a trash. Do you have it enough with your life? I have never really like this disciplinary teacher anyway.

(Nomura started to charge at Uchiyamada)

Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): You old bastard, get out of my way. If you dare to expel me from school, just try it. But remember that I will find you and beat you to death.

(Nomura then grabbed Uchiyamada' collar with one hand, and a real knife in the other hand....)
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji): Die old man.

(Uchiyamada is panicking by now).

Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): Stop it Kenji. (Screaming).

(The judges and the organizers are stunned. Suddenly, one of the dolls is falling from Nomura's hands, along with the knife which have gone through the doll. )

Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): Ahh
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): Wh..wh..why? I've stabbed the wrong person.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): Mom, wake up. Don't leave me alone mom. I wanted you to be alive.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): For a long time, I've never heard that word...Kenji
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): Mom?
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): It's been a long time since you last call me mother.

(Nomura started to have bleary eyes, smiling faintly)

Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): Mom? Did the knife have gone into you earlier?
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): This thing....
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): The watch that dad left for us..?
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): Yes, I keep it inside a secret pocket in my shirt...

(The audience is still silent)

Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): Because of this watch, mom could avoid injury from the knife...
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): A watch at the chest saved your life, mom...?
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): Apart from me, dad also watches over you? So now I'm not a murderer?
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): Do you understand now? You had never been alone.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): No matter it's mom or dad, we always be with you because....
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom):...we are a family.
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): Mom......
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’): Mom...forgive me...
Tomoko Nomura (Kenji’ mom): Kenji....

The silent audience started to give Nomura a big applause, as Nomura smiles at the crowd. Aizawa is stunned, and so are Murai and Fujiyoushi. Meanwhile, Onizuka is smiling....
